Red Back Salamander Enclosure Change

August 29, 2009 - 4:16 am 6 Comments

I found out the hard way what very moist Eco-Earth can do in plastic bins. There was ventilation going on, but mold kept growing. I’m experimenting in this new enclosure by using my regular substrate, a 75-25 mix of organic top soil and Eco-Earth. It seem to work for my other terrariums. I will put a hide there soon, but this will probably end up being temporary because of its small size.

African fat Tail enclosure floor plan (Part 2)

August 11, 2009 - 7:18 am 2 Comments

before you do it on a large scale test it on a small tanks 10 gal, 5 gal, 2.5 gal or those small plastic tanks (these would be best).

The maker of this Video can not be held reasonable for injury or death of your animals or self for using these techniques. Please be advised they’re a lot of risk involved in doing this, Impaction is a possibility if the clay to sand ratio isn’t right the dirt can be lose enough that the animal can swallow it, if it inst strayed down enough said animal can dig under the top layer and eat the lose dirt underneath, there is also a high risk or contamination from getting objects outside.

Praying Mantis Enclosure 24 4 09

July 24, 2009 - 3:39 pm 11 Comments

Well this is my praying mantis enclosure, it just a plastic fish/mice tank which I drilled some holes into the bottom for water drainage, there are some ferns in there, some baby tears ground cover and some English ivy (I think), the substrate is made up of some peat moss with rocks at the bottom to prevent the peat moss draining out.
