Review: Macally G-S350SUAB “Mac G5 look-alike” External Storage Enclosure

September 4, 2009 - 6:18 am No Comments

This is a review of the Macally G-S350SUAB “Mac G5 look-alike” External Storage Enclosure….actually it’s more like a “hands on” than a review. This fanless enclosure includes an external power source, a firewire 800, firewire 400, USB 2.0, and eSata interface.

Overall I am very pleased with this enclosure. The thing I like about it the most is the aesthetic. It looks like a little G5 (as you can see).

Excuse the poor video quality; I’m awaiting a new higher quality video camera in the mail.

Apple “MacBook Touch” MultiTouch Tablet Concept

August 29, 2009 - 4:16 am 25 Comments

***Updated with Product Specs***

This is a video I put together for a Product Management class in the MBA program at Georgia State University. The video is meant to illustrate the MacBook Touch concept - a tablet computer that uses Apple’s multi-touch technology. For the class project we were required to come up with a new product concept and develop the idea using Product Development and Management techniques learned in class.

The video was put together using iMovie ‘08 and is my first attempt at making a video. Several of the clips were taken from Apple videos on the internet, and some were recorded by me in order to simulate using multi-touch on a tablet computer. The concept mockup photos were done with Microsoft Paint. The video of Mute Math playing at the end is from their Flesh and Bones Electric Fun DVD.

There are a few mistakes in the video and some things I would have liked to do differently had I had the time, but I was working on a short schedule trying to put the rest of the project together. Overall I think the video came out well and made a nice ending to the final presentation in class.

Music: “Reset” by Mute Math

Late 2008 Unibody 15″ MacBook Pro Unboxing

July 30, 2009 - 1:14 am 25 Comments

I went to my local Best Buy on January 3, 2009 to exchange my recently purchased MacBook for a MacBook Pro. I found the MBP to fit me best at what I usually need it for. At the time the highest configuration available at Best Buy was the 2.53GHz model, which I purchased at retail value of $2499. The current MacBook Pro models (Mid-2009) are almost $1000 cheaper than before, and rumors are that Apple may have downgraded some technologies in them (slower SATA I instead of SATA II, etc.) in order to sell the computers for lower prices on this unstable economy.
