What type of sub enclosure is better and why?

What is better for a sub enclousre. Fibreglass, MDF or Plexiglass and why?

I have seen that Plexiglas makes a real buzzing sound when the sub hits because of the thinness. I personally go with 3/4 MDF it makes a real great seal and can take a beating from big subs. MDF boxes just sound the best in my opinion. Never seen a fiberglass one

Use fiberglass if you want to keep the weight down. Use plexiglass if you want to show off your components to maximum effect. MDF is cheap and and easy to cut, nail glue etc.

If you listen mostly to rock music and demand accuracy in ur music, get a sealed box for a clean sound, especially with bass guitar. Ur amp will need a little bit more power tho, but its worth it if u want accuracy. If you listen to rap or techno, I would recommend a vented box. The bass is louder, but a little bit less clean, but it shouldn’t matter if u r listening to that kind or music, which is what i listen to. A bandpass box is not really recommended because it only emphasizes the mid bass in the 100Hz range. The bass extension is not very good in bandpass boxes, but it will pound hard with a kick drum. All in all, to get the best of both worlds, get a ported box. It is usually the most recommended one to get. You can get a box for two ten inchers for 50 and a box for two twelves for 70.

3/4 mdf as it’s denser and controls the bass better w/o rocking the box. u can opt for a fiberglass interior which resonates the sound well and somehow louder.
