What happens if my sub enclosure is too small?

For example, if I got the Kicker CVR 10" which has a minimum sealed box size of 0.8 cu ft. and I put it into a box with 0.65 cu ft., what would happen?
OK Darkside has it backwards, Sealed boxes are smaller. Ported boxes are bigger. What your going to notice as far as sound, is certain bass frequencies wont be heard. so your going to notice, maybe not enough low bass or just to much low bass and not enough tight bass. try to get it as close as possible to air space. it make a whole lot of difference. trust me

it won’t do anything.. It just wont give you the full potient of the sub power. It’ll still hit hard. Its all depend too.. if its a seal or a ported box.. usually a seal box will recommend a bigger enclosure, a ported box doens’t recomment a that big of a enclosure..

it would move the response curve up on the frequency scale. it wont get as good of low bass and may resonate at higher frequencies but i wouldn’t know for sure. it would still work for sure but its not likely to sound very good unless you mod it to compensate.

You won’t get as much power as you could with the recommended size. Just think, the air in a smaller box won’t have enough space to move but if the box is too big, it will have too much space and you will lose power. The sound will dissipate.
This is why you get recommended sizes so you can get the correct flow of air without restricting or drowning out the sound waves.
Low frequencies will need the space so with a smaller box, the lows won’t be as good
