If you want to make a ported enclosure for two subs you should look and see what the manufacturer recommends. They will usually have recommended sizes and tuning frequencies. They will sometimes even give you the actual dimensions of the enclosure.

A ported enclosure has to be designed to work with the subs. It is not simply making a box with "holes" in it. If you want to customize the sound of the enclosure you will need to use a program like WinISD or other enclosure building program. Basically you have to put in the T/S parameters of the sub and the program will allow you to change the enclosure specs. Then you can use this information to see what enclosure specs will be best for the sound you are looking for.

There is a lot of information that you need to consider. You need to consider the volume as well as designing a port correctly. When designing the port you have to look at the cross sectional area, length, and overall volume of the enclosure. You also have to make sure that the port will not have to high of an air velocity or you will have port noise.

As for building the enclosure.. You should get 3/4" MDF for building the enclosure. You have to make sure that all the sizes are correct and that there is no leaks. You also have to make sure that the enclosure is very strong so there is no flex in the material.

For ported enclosures there is not a lot of room for error. Any small miscalculation or error in building will cause the sound to be bad. You can also damage your sub(s) if they are in an improper enclosure. If you have any doubts about the construction you should have a professional build one for you.

    Good Luck!!!
