can i mount my amp onto my sub enclosure?

January 17, 2010 - 10:27 pm

i have an suv and ther’s really no good place to mount it. and i don’t want it rolling around freely. will i lose any sound quality or have any type of problems? suggestions? it’s a 96 bravada if that means anything to u

Yes you can and it is probably better for the sound quality as the total mass of the box will increase hence reducing the natural vibration frequency of the whole sub unit.

yes you can, either in back or on top, back is the more typical place so that way no one can see it, but you need to make sure not to push it totally against the back seat as amps get hot and need air so they dont overheat. or you can even mount it on the back seat between the seat and the box. Same rule applies if mounted on the box though, some space for air.

You can do this just fine. The only problem that you could have is if your enclosure is not made properly or if it is not secured properly.

You don’t want your enclosure moving around, especially if you have your amp mounted on it. Make sure you secure your enclosure to your vehicle before mounting your amp on it.

You could have a problem if you enclosure is not built properly. If the enclosure has so much flexing that it causes the amp to continuously vibrate you could have issues. However, the enclosure would have to be flexing a great deal before this would be a problem.

As long as your amp is getting good air flow and it is on a sturdy surface you will be fine.

    Good Luck!!!

Edit: The sound quality will really not be any different by doing this either.
