HDD enclosure Engrish instructions

September 10, 2009 - 8:04 am

After five years of sitting on the shelf, I decided it was time to finally discard the box to this external hard drive enclosure… then I found these instructions inside and had a good laugh. If CompUSA couldn’t write better than this, then it’s a good thing they went out of business!

Wow, I’ve seen some pretty bad instructions in my life, but this is the worst I’ve ever seen. My family have a singing Christmas snowman and according to the instructions on the box “on/off switch is located near the batterys compartment a he body. Turn he switch to on positioin, touch he left hand and it will be acivaed.” I’ve seen others as well. I love reading these manuals, because I love to see how badly they are written.

This is common with products made in China. They write the instructions in their language and then use a translator (not a human one) to do English.

Maybe I should say, “attempt English.”

    Nice job.
