would it be good or bad to have both sealed and ported enclosures in your car?

im just wondering. also could you explain why it would be good or bad.
You should always use the same subs in the same enclosures with the same power and signal unless they are crossed over to play different frequencies. The reason is if the subs are playing slightly different they can conflict with each other. Also if one plays slightly "quicker" then the other, the sound can get muddied up and sloppy.

He’s right. By one being ported and the other sealed, you will more than likly get two diff. pitches. And the bass from the subs will run to gether and will sound all mixed up together.

It makes it too easy for cancellations to occur.

If you don’t know what to do and just run the two box with same channel and setting, the end result will likely be bad, because each box have different sonic character and phase response, adding them will make the bass muddy, indistinct.
On the other hand, if you really know what you looking for, sealed one to cover which freq and ported one to cover which freq, and know how to balance them, you can get the best of both world.
That’s what I have in my car, a 2000 Kia Sportage
One sealed 6.5" Seas Lotus mids, on each door
One sealed 8" Kicker Solobaric, under the dash for up front bass, 50-160Hz.
One ported 12" JL W6V2, in the back, for the low-end, 20-50Hz.
Two slot ported 12" Orion HCCA, in the back, for the chest thumping low when I need it, 40-120Hz
