What is the best way to heat up a Brazilian rainbow boa enclosure?

September 1, 2009 - 1:05 am

Just wondering… How do you heat your rainbow boa enclosure? I have heard multiple things but I am not definite yet. Please post what you use and/or what you prefer to use.

Example:
Heat pad, ceramic bulb combo with on/off thermostat that controls heat.
I also heard that the heat pads only add 5-10 degrees to the room temperature, so i dont know if that will work.

What are tou use to house the snake and what is the room tempature?
If it is an aquarium and the room is not constantly at ~80F then you will need more than a heat pad. If the room stays ~80F then you should be fine with just a heat pad. If your room tempature are on the low side then you may need a double heat setup. That is setting up both sides of the cage with its own regulated heat source(s).

I’d honestly use both. UTHs will only add heat to the ground, but if there is a heat lamp as well, it will also add more heat for the night and allow you to see inside the cage.

You can use a CHE, but it does not provide light, only heat. Personally, I like to see my animals.
