Removing the rear seat on a 1999 Grand Prix GT?

October 1, 2009 - 9:56 pm

I’ve gotten as far as revoving the entire back seat, but i cant remove the back so i can get to my speakers. It seems that there are those little plastic things holding the enclosure to the metal, but i am completely stuck what do i do. Very specific details would be great. thanks.

After removing the ass rest as I am assuming you mean you already have, there is usually two to four bolts holding the back rest against the body. These can be stand alone bolts or use the seat belt anchors. You will have to look to see which ones have to come out. Once all are removed the seat back will be loose at the bottom, if it is not there are still bolts holding the back rest to the body. After the back rest is loose at the bottom, you have to grab the seat back rest and shove it upwards. There are usually two to four hook type holders that grab the back rest near the top of the seat. That is it, now just pull the seat out of the car. Good luck.
