October 3, 2009 - 8:35 pm

This Question is on a Pipeline Operator Written Exam.

The choices are:

a.Encase it in gas-tight metal pipe and fittings.

b.Keep the vault open to allow escape of any gas leaked.

c.Vent the vault through an activated charcoal canister to prevent odor-ant from escaping into air.

d.Place perement line markers over the line on both sides of the vault.

Don’t know for sure, but just using common sense:

c.Vent the vault through an activated charcoal canister to prevent odor-ant from escaping into air.
———————————————————

a. is wrong, it would be ridiculous, because if you encased the vault with pipes and fittings, you couldn’t access the vault.

b. is wrong because if you kept the vault open, then anything, including water, dirt, and animals could enter the vault defeating it’s protection status.

d. is wrong, because permanent markers, would easily fade over time underground and would be meaningless shortly
