the whole enclosure is screen except the bottom which is plastic. its 3 feet tall and 1 1/2 feet wide. or should i use an aquarium? (this is for a baby and hopefully will be kept there until adulthood). the door locks but it seems somewhat weak.
i dont own snakes but i know when it comes to ball pythons especially babies they need to be in small aquariums so they feel safe if its to big it will get stressed and screen is not a good idea since they need humidity plus screen cages are normally for animals that require fresh flowing air like chameleons and depending on how small your ball pythons is i would put it in a 20 gallon tank and see how it does and then move up to a larger ones as it matures.

It would be okay but it won’t keep in the heat and the humidity well. Get terrarium ( it is specialized for reptiles) you can find them in any pet specialty store. ANd if you want it to last to adulthood you will have to get a big one like 40 gallons. ANd believe me you better make sure it is tight closed because a ball python will use muscle power to get through to what it wants. Hope this helps:)

I would reccomend putting it into a cage that can be locked. Ball pythons are escape artists, and are rather strong. If you dont want to have a loose ball python i would either put some sort of lock onto it, or put a heavy weight on it. Hope this helps

Not unless you live somewhere that around 90 degrees all day all night every day of the year. It will be impossible to keep the snake warm enough in a screen cage, it’s hard enough to keep a glass tank warm enough because glass doesn’t hold heat very well.
If price is an issue there is no reason you can’t keep a ball python in a plastic tub. It’s actually much easier to keep ball pythons in tubs because there’s less space-so they feel more secure, and it holds heat and humidity much better than a tank.
