    We reward the …
We reward the failure of GM / Ford etc - and let the Houston good-old-boys completely control our transportation, energy and military future. It is sickening. We don’t have the luxury to continue placating failure. We should be selling this technology to the world. Instead, it is fashionable to be a dumb-ass retrograde. Thank Clod we are retiring their drunken leader on January 20th.

    The dealers buried …
    The dealers buried the EV-1.
The dealers will bury ANY car that requires little maintenance, including this one.
I knew someone who was an EV-1 tester. I drove it. Everyone, including me, loved it. GM came in the night to collect their property, took them to a wrecking yard and CRUSHED THEM SO NOONE COULD GET ONE….ALL OF THEM.
No $400 oil changes. No transmission rebuilds. NO WAY!

    Rumor is 2009-2010 …
Rumor is 2009-2010 in Japan and 2011-2012 elsewhere, but they have made no firm commitment to bringing it to North America.

If they could release it for the 2012 model year, it would put them in direct competition with the American EREVs, and if they could keep the $27,000 MSRP, this car can be had after tax credits for $19,500 while American EREVs would be around $30,000.

If nothing else, it would at least give drivers a variety of energy efficient alternatives to consider.

    There are always …
There are always going to be people who see this technology and pooh-pooh it, speaking as a former motorhead and had muscle cars in the 70s I’ve discovered that a car is just transportation and doesn’t have to be a status symbol. This car cannot be all things to all people it isn’t designed to do that, it is designed to meet the commuter needs of the vast majority of people and all it’s going to take is a paradigm shift in their thinking, necessity is the mother of invention.
