    Perhaps with some equipment you do… I remember my old audio system about ~20 years needed to be that way, including heavy shielding. Seems these days it’s not that necessary!

    I think it was valid in the past, as I recall having a lot of line noise / interference like 20 years ago when I was installing my own audio equipment. Seems as though cables and the equipment are made better these days to cancel out that noise because I never encounter that problem anymore.
