I have an 2.5" USB enclosure. Am I able to get maximum speed if I use a 7200rpm hard drive?

or it just downgrade to 5400 rpm?
or worse, not working at all?

If you have USB 2.0, you’ll get very good speeds.

Does anyone know where I can get a custom sub enclosure for my 2000 Camry?

Does anyone know where I can buy a custom sub enclosure for my 2000 Camry? Let me know if you know of any websites that specialize in that sort of thing. I don’t know whether I want a 10" or 12" sub yet, and would like if the custom box was on the left side of the trunk, preferably on the wheel well.

nope

Find the dimensions of the enclosure that is most economical to construct?

April 11, 2010 - 9:08 am 1 Comment

A fence is to be built to enclose a rectangular area of 240 square feet. The fence along three sides is to be made of material that costs 5 dollars per foot, and the material for the fourth side costs 16 dollars per foot. Find the dimensions of the enclosure that is most economical to construct.

A = W L = 240
P = 2W + 2L
cost = (5+5)W + 5L + 16L
but W = 240/L (from A)
cost = 2400/L + 21L
cost’(L) = -2400/L^2 + 21 = 0 at the optimum L
21L^2 = 2400
L = sqrt(2400/21)

How come some zoos never built a ceiling for greater flamingo enclosures?

April 11, 2010 - 9:08 am 2 Comments

Some greater flamingo enclosures in zoos never had a ceiling built. How about if the flamingos fly out and escape from the zoo? Are they trained not to escape as there are free food in zoos?

They have clipped wings. The wings are surgically cut to prevent flight. We used to do the same thing with ducks and geese on farms.

Can You Use A Solid State Drive In An External Enclosure?

April 9, 2010 - 11:36 am 2 Comments

I have an Intel 40Gb SSD and I am wondering if I can use it in a USB 2.5" external enclosure. I don’t want to use it as a boot drive, just to hold programs to carry for install onto other systems. Thanks.
@Shukui: All SSDs are SATA…and it will be great when some USB 3 externals come out.

As long as your enclosure is SATA compatible, there is absolutely no reason why you can’t use an SSD in an external enclosure, the let down will be write and read performance because if it’s over USB 2.0 your limited to the specifications of the standard although if you have the ability to use eSATA you will definitely get more speed out of it although regardless you will never see the true power of an SSD while it’s external.

What size enclosure should i build for my juvenile chinese water dragon?

I am planning on building him an enclosure, but I am not sure exactly what size to make it. I want to make it big enough that it should be a good size cage for like five six years. I was thinking 4′ wide(long) X 2-21/2′ deep(depth) X 5′ high(tall). Would these dimensions be okay. He is about 1 and 1/2 ‘ long now.

Go with 5 foot LONG. 2.5 Feet wide. 4 foot tall. You can go bigger, but those are the smallest you wanna give it if you are building it. The bigger the better. Make sure its not just tall but long too, they do spend time on ground also.

Semi aquatic is best. They poop and pee in the water, so its EASYER this way. Trust me. You rarely have to clean the soil, infact. I have never cleaned mine, don’t need to, no poop. Water is easy to clean if you buy a pumplike device from your local aquarium store. It looks like a long tube and it "vacumes" water out (without electricity)

Live plants are better than fake plants, but get "hard" live plants, by that I mean not fragile plants that will break, try to get high ones because their claws get long and they will ruin it. It wont be too much of a problem if you have lots of logs and vines for your dragon to climb on.

MacBook or Macbook pro for grade 8 student?

April 7, 2010 - 10:18 am 1 Comment

I like to play WoW, and i like the macbook pro because of the unibody aluminum enclosure… But i dont think i need it. I heard that the macbook scratches easily. Please dont post comments like "OMG ur 2 yung 4 a mac!!1!"

The new Macbook doesn’t scratch as easily as the older generation, and you can get the same spec for a cheaper price than a MBP. You are only in 8th grade so I would go for a Macbook unless you really really need the extra graphics card (the Macbook already has a decent graphics card for WoW; the MBP has two graphics cards).

How do I access files from and HDD external enclosure?

April 1, 2010 - 9:27 am 3 Comments

I have a hard drive from my broken laptop that I have moved over into an HDD external enclosure but can not access my files.
I have moved a hard drive from a broken laptop to and external enclosure and I can not seem to access the files on it. I have connected it via USB and the external enclosure displays power. The PC also detects that hardware is attached.

1) When you plug it in does the drive get found by the operating system (new hardware found etc) ? If not then check all the connections.
2) If they seem ok try on another computer.
3) go to the mycompute>manage>disk manager plug in and see if you can see the disk from there, if you can then right click on it and select open.
